Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®) 40-Hour Training

The course focuses on ABA and the roles of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), covering the BACB’s RBT 2nd Edition Task List and Ethics Code 2.0. It includes interactive learning activities to help prep you to be ready to experience potential clinical interventions and an overview of BCBA and BCaBA credentials related to RBT supervision.

What is a Registered Behavior Technician?

The RBT is a paraprofessional who works under the close supervision of a BCBA or BCaBA. The RBT's main role is to implement behavior-analytic services directly, while the BCBA designs intervention and assessment plans. The supervising BCBA guides the RBT's work on their cases ensuring fidelity and quality of service delivery. It is the supervisor's duty to determine the tasks an RBT can perform based on their training, experience, and competence.

Why should I become RBT Certified?

If you’re looking for a meaningful career with strong job security and the chance to positively impact lives every day, becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a great starting point.

With the prevalence rate of ASD increasing from 1:36 to 1:31 children, millions of individuals and families are waiting for skilled professionals who can deliver evidence-based support.  As an RBT, you’ll be trained to teach essential skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote independence.

Registered Behavior Technician

RBTs are the hands and heart of behavior analytic service delivery. They work directly with individuals (children, teens, or adults) to teach life-changing skills like communication, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, and social skills. Whether helping someone speak their first word or navigate a tolerance to independently performing a job task, RBTs use evidence-based strategies rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to help individuals progress towards their goals. Guided by data, they don’t just support behavior, they shape brighter, more independent futures.

Direct Support Professional (DSP) & Respite Worker

DSPs and Respite are valuable members who support and provide hands-on care and meaningful connection to individuals with disabilities by helping them live, learn, and thrive in their homes and communities. From preparing meals to promoting independence, from offering a break for families to teaching life skills, these professionals bring patience, heart, and purpose to every moment. They’re not just caregivers, they’re advocates, mentors, and lifelines. Obtaining an RBT certification can assist DSP and Respite workers in learning strategies to reduce challenging behaviors, making daily routines easier for individuals to succeed.

Special Education Teacher

Special education teachers create inclusive, empowering classrooms where every student (regardless of ability) can learn, grow, and succeed. With creativity, patience, and specialized strategies, they adapt instruction, foster communication, and celebrate progress big and small. More than educators, they are advocates, collaborators, and difference-makers who turn barriers into breakthroughs every single day. Obtaining an RBT certification can help special education teachers in managing behavioral challenging in classrooms while promoting active learning and engagement.

Coordinator

Coordinators manage teams, track goals, and ensure the smooth delivery of care and support across programs. Coordinators with strong organizational skills and a passion for people transform systems into meaningful outcomes. Earning an RBT certification gives coordinators deeper insight into the behavioral techniques their teams use. This empowers them to lead with knowledge, support staff effectively, and advocate for meaningful client outcomes.

Recruiters

Recruiters seek out compassionate, capable individuals and connect them with life-changing roles in behavioral health care, education, and support. With every hire, they help build stronger, more supportive communities. By obtaining an RBT certification, recruiters gain a deeper understanding of the field they serve, enhancing their ability to screen for quality, communicate expectations clearly, and inspire new talent with firsthand insight and experience.
